Printer Driver Installations

How to install printer drivers on WIN98/Millenium.

1. Download from our site any of the following drivers Win95/98/2000 & NT4.0 sp5 to the desktop folder.
2. Double Click the files and extract to the default directory.
3. Browse to the extracted files (usually c:/temp OR c:/Windows/Temp) and run setup.exe.
4. Follow the Adobe dialogs until you have to select a new printer, and select FrontierV7.
5. Complete the remaining adobe dialogs.
6. Unless you need to install additional systems, you can delete the files in the Temp directory.

When you start QuarkXpress, "updating printer descriptions" should display, but if not or you can't see FrontierV7 in the printer description dropdown window do the following:

1. In QuarkXpress select "Utilities>PPD Manager" and check the directory QuarkXpress is checking (usually c:/windows/system).
2 Using explorer, browse to this directory and check that frontr7.ppd is there.
3. If NOT THERE, then copy from your .../Temp directory.
4. Close QuarkXpress and start again. It should now be available.

How to install printer drivers on NT4.0/WIN2000.

1. Download from our site the following drivers Win95/98/2000 & NT4.0 sp5 to the desktop folder.

How to install Frontier PPD on a MacOS 9.x/MacOS X (10.3.1).

1. Download the PPD from our site and extract using Stuffit.
2. If MacOS 9.x, copy this file (frontr7.ppd) to the folder ...system:extensions:printer descriptions. For Mac OS X copy to YourHardDisk:Library:Printers:PPDs:Contents:Resources:en.lproj
3. When you start QuarkXpress it will update the printer descriptions.
4. It should now be available to all applications.
5. This driver works best with the adobe printer driver found on their site.

Pagemaker V6.5 Doesn't have the FrontierV7 PPD!

1. Download the PPD from our site.
2. Copy this file (frontr7.ppd) to the directory ...PM65\RSRC\UKENGLSH\PPD4.
3. Restart PageMaker and recheck PPDs

Windows NT or 2000 printer setup.

To set the DEFAULT document settings for each of the available printers ...

1. START>settings>printers
2. Select the required printer (single RIGHT click).
3. From the dropdown menu select Document Defaults
4. Now you can change the default parameters for any NEW print jobs

To Add a NEW page size which will be globally available for all printers

1. START>settings>printers
2. select ADD Printer (DO NOT DOUBLE CLICK)
3. file>server properties (Main window menu)
4. Add New Page by select an existing page, rename and change the size parameters
